The Inaugural Geoff Mealing Trophy competition will be held at the Bowls Hall on the morning of Sunday February 1st 2026 at 9.30am for a 10.00am start.
Prize Money of £100.00 for the winners and £50.00 for the runners up is being offered.
The format will be finalised as soon as the number of entries has been confirmed (maximum of 24 players).
Eight captains will be picked and then teams will be drawn at random to ensure a fair mix of the participating members.
There will be no entry fee but there will be a donation box on the day of the event. Proceeds will be spent on new equipment to help our coaching team in the future.
Geoff Mealing’s son has kindly donated the prize money and a Trophy and has requested we have an annual competition in memory of his father Geoff, who was a founding member of the Club and a member of the Coaching team.
An entry form will be posted on the noticeboard in the Bowls Hall on Saturday December 6th 2025. On the instructions of our Chairman Richard Morris and to make sure all members have a chance of entering this competition, entries will be open until December 31st 2025.
If, as we expect, the event is oversubscribed, a ballot will be held in early January 2026 to establish which 24 members will be able to play. We will also pick 3 extra players as substitutes, as experience tells us sometimes players drop out at the last minute.
We hope this event will be the start of an annual competition and look forward to seeing you all on the day.
